Little Ali in the Big City

Little Ali in the Big City

Verrrryyyy excited to introduce my San Francisco bestie, Ali Goldman, everybody!! Ali arrived in Sydney a few days ago and is here to stay (and cause trouble). She's also on the Work and Holiday Visa, but instead of a handsome young Aussie bloke beckoning her down unda, she has two cousins here, both as small (and mighty) as she is.

Proving her adventurous spirit, she rallied after her 15 hour flight and we took her for a tour of the neighborhood.

Ali and I are both living with her cousin, Amy, in Bondi Beach. Amy's sister, Caroline, also lives in Bondi Beach! Just about a three minute walk from Amy's! Ali came to visit her cousins for the first time down unda in February. After Conor left the States, I contemplated a visit, but was really unsure, kinda thinking a clean break would be best. But that wasn't in the cards, so here we are :) Anyway, knowing Ali would be in Oz in February somehow made my visiting seem a little less crazy. She watched me look up flights from SF to SYD every single day for months and then physically helped me click PURCHASE. So, once back at work together, we couldn't help but exchange daily glances that said it all: Let's go back.

After catching up on life since we separated, we refueled with some sandwiches at a cute spot on our street, and then headed home to help her unpack!

**By help, I really mean provide emotional support and wine

Amy and Caroline are SO excited to have their cousin follow them down unda! Caroline wanted to get everyone together for dinner that night, so we poured Ali some coffee and headed towards the beach. We went to a super happening Asian restaurant, Bangkok Bites; a cozy spot packed with lively chatter and some seriously amazing smells. The portions were all huge! A great place to go and try a lot of the menu, especially since it's pretty extensive. Or be prepared to have a full meal of leftovers!

Amidst all the other errands necessary when moving to a new country, we couldn't help but return to the beach. Pre-grocery shop, we walked down to the water and sat on the infamous "Grassy Hill" - Apparently, in summer this is the it spot for locals to post up when they finally shed their winter layers and want to be seen. It's my new mission to use this hill to our advantage and help Ali snag herself a hot Aussie surfer ;)

Beyond excited to be starting our adventure together!!
